creo 2.0 opening error - Licence Request failed for feature

$

I downloaded the 4.155 gb creo 2.0 student edition file from the website. I installed as per the instructions. things worked properly. My friend with a very slow internet connection wanted to install creo 2.0. I gave him the installation file. Is that appropriate ? Or should he download the file himself ?

He registered with the creo student website, they gave gim the appropriate key via email and later sent along the license file. The installation occured smoothly. He also installed the license file. But when he opened creo 2.0 he encountered an error, whose screenshot has been attached. error.jpg How are we supposed to proceed from here ? Hope this information helps. Thanks in advance.

How do I reset the motor analysis?

We created a simple model to try to learn how to simulate movement in PTC Creo, but after I see it successfully simulate, it forces me to delete all the servo motors and the the motor analysis (after I regenerate the model as well). Would you be able to describe how I should reset the model and how to save a playback to save the animation. Thank you!

Having a difficult time trying to check in CAD and move to Windchill Folder

Hello to all,

Trying to check in and move the Tetrix KOP library from the workspace to the CAD Models folder...

Folder_CAD_Models.png

that includes assemblies created by our team. One particular part hangs up the entire process...

set_screw_hell.png

Message states...

"Cannot check in place holder document CAD Part - set_screw_large.prt, A.1."

Even when deselecting "set_screw_large.prt" Creo/Windchill still tries to push it up and it fails the whole batch process. Even when trying to delete the component and it tells me that...

"A referential integrity violation occurred for this operation:"

What a nightmare its a catch 22 situation, where one corrupt file hangs ups the whole process. It seems to be a single point of failure at its worst. Any chance I could share access to the Windchill workspace to have someone at PTC figure out this corruption issue? Are there any "Plan B Zapinator" functions for this wretched file?

Just as I was getting pumped up and excited about using Windchill after viewing the recent Robotalk Webinar on Windchill, I have been shot down in flames at the first step of the process!

Guess we have a case of a set screw jammed in the cogs here and has brought everything to an abrupt halt :-)!!!

Please take note that, I am brand new in these CAD/PLM issues as well.

Best Regards,

Emil

NC post processing - needs better documentation?

$

I am now moving on to trying to understand post-processing, and it appears the included documentation is very poor. There is very little explanation of what is being chosen in the machine tool setup dialog when typing a "PP Name" and selecting a number. Here is the complete documentation:

Post Processor Options

  • PP Name—The name of the default post-processor associated with the machine. Type the name in the text box.
  • ID—The post-processor ID.

The Reset button lets you change the post-processor name and ID back to the default values.

Um, it'd be useful to know a little more of what I am supposed to be doing, but searching the help system for "uncx01" or "post processor list" doesn't turn up anything useful.

I decided to search the Pro-E program directory for anything with this name, and it turns up a bunch of files in "C:\Program Files\ProENGINEER Schools Edition\i486_nt"

The PP name and number apparently refers to one of these files. Except it also appears there is no documentation in the help system of what the names and numbers mean. Fortunately it seems these are all text files, and can be easily opened with Windows Notepad, so I am trying to document here what each post processing file is for......

,

Though it leaves me with yet another conundrum. Some are named d00, some are p00, some are f00, etc. You can't type a letter in the PP ID entry, only "unxc01" and a number from 1-99, so I still don't know what I am choosing by selecting a number.

Oddly, I can choose a PP number in that setup dialog box that doesn't correspond to any file number in here, such as 45. There is no "unxc01" with the extension d45, p45, f45, etc, but the program doesn't complain about this when I click OK, and gives no error, so I still don't know what I am doing.

Also, oddly some files internally list a different file name from what it is actually named, so I have highlighted these naming and numbering differences.:

And there is overlap of some post processor file numbers and models, so I don't really know what choosing the post processor "uncx01" number "20" is selecting: Apparently one of these:

Anyway here is the list of everything, and whatever internal file description I can find.

Creo 2.0 Parametric Fatal Error encountered

Hi there, I've been having a big problem trying to open creo on my laptop. I managed to install creo without a hassle, however when I try to open it, a window suddenly pops up that says:

CREO FATAL ERROR.JPG

Please help? i've tried re-installing Creo but this error still occurs.

My laptop Model: Inspiron 7520

Running on : Windows Home 7 Premium 64-bit (is it because of my operating system?)

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3612QM CPU @ 2.10GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.1GHz

Memory: 6144MB (6GB) RAM

If it's my operating system, do you think updating it to say Windows 8, will allow me to run Creo 2.0? Will updating it affect the fact that I have a locked license?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Creo 3.0 Accademic License error

Hello PTC Community,

My name is Andrea, I have already installed Creo 2.0, but now that I have Windows7 I could afford the newer 3.0 version. I couldn't find a link to download the file again so I had to register once more. Followed the instructions and everything seemed to work except for when I got to insert the code received in the pdf. After the elaboration it just says "Error" in red without any specific information, so it couldn't recognize my License. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you all in advance

Andrea

I'm a student using Creo 2.0, and have had this program for months without any issues and then all of a sudden I get an error upon oppening Creo:

"License request failed for feature"

I attatched a picture of the full error message.

I don't know if it's an expired license or what. I thought I read that the student licenses never expired? I'm not sure, but thanks in advance!

CREO 3.0 installation doesn't boot after install

This past weekend we updated all our laptops to CRE 3.0, all went well til we got to the last two laptops. We installed CReo 3.0 same as before on a laptop that was running Creo 2.0M120 , when we clicked the Creo 3.0 icon the time dial ran for a few seconds then nothing happened , tried again same thing , no error codes etc... , we thought 2.0 may have been interferring , we deleted all the PTC files and started over from scratch , Firewall and Antivirus were off.

Same issue we click the Creo 3.0 ICon and get a time dial for about 5 seconds then it stays on the desktop screen , no errors, no codes as to what happened , it just won't run, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated , all other parts of install appear to go fine , IE getting a license, loading files, etc. no errors popped up. We did try reloading a third time with same results.

PTC has released a new and updated www.ptc.com website today. The URL is the same and all your favorite links and shortcuts should still work. If you are looking for details on the Academic Programs, the main navigation link has changed. It is now located under the About Us item at the top of the page. The Academic program and FIRST pages look different but still contain all the great content and information.

Creo Application For FIRST Res-Q Intake Assembly

Wanted to take a minute and share a Creo example with everyone.  In this case, my FTC team chose to design its intake system in Creo.

Stepping back a moment, this is a team of 8th grade and Freshman that have not previously had any CAD experience.  Their exposure to CAD has been the gracious offer of the PTC suite to FIRST FTC teams.  They have taken the online Creo courses which are helpful but really flourished with Creo after an in person day long training by PTC on the west side of Chicago last year.  Thanks again for a GREAT event!  The course showed the team that they could overcome some of their hesitance to design on paper by bringing their ideas to life in Creo.  As the team is uncomfortable creating engineering drawings at this time, they find Creo as a rapid idea development environment where the ideas in their head translate into the CAD environment.  And so that is what they did . . .

The steps they took are as follows:

  1. Design and animate sprocket / gear assembly for intake to visually assess and share with team.  Looks good . . .
  2. Design and animate intake flapper assembly to visually assess and share with team.  Everything looks to be coming together so far . . .
  3. The team is on board with this design and have a great feel for it that they could not get from a drawing.  Time to build a prototype from available materials . . . Proof that the best laid plans are not always perfect this gear assembly does not seem to be suitable for the application.  The gear strength does not meet the real world design needs.  No problem, modify the CAD renderings to sprockets and update the prototype.
  4. With everything seemingly in hand, its time to build the actual intake and test it in the Res-Q environment . . . Success!

Feel like you are having difficulty describing your ideas?  Not yet ready to develop hand drawn engineering drawings to show your ideas to others?  Why not utilize PTC Creo to move your ideas through the developmental pipeline.  We did it and so can you!!!

Thanks PTC for making these tools available to FIRST FTC and for providing us with a 2015-2016 PTC Grant to help make this season possible.  We hope we are representing you well.

if not, could I use another version without paying? which one?
